Labyrinth through glass
My project is dedicated to portraying the disconnect we experience in our lives and the loneliness that people experience when surrounded by others.
There are always many conflicts in life that make us suffer, and it feels like living in a huge labyrinth where the walls and bricks are full of eyes that scrutinize us. In the face of this loneliness, most people choose to escape, some choose to break through. I choose to live with loneliness.
I'm the only child in my family and I grew up learning how to be alone and on my own. After I saw Edward Hopper's painting, it resonated with me. I can see people's struggle against loneliness in the paintings, but they are all pressed into such a small painting, with no way out, only struggling alone. My work will not only create a sense of isolation between the viewer, but also creates a sense of powerlessness in which the viewer tries to integrate into the work but cannot. This sense of loneliness and isolation will make people feel as if everything has been abandoned, but perfectly preserved.

“It’s probably a reflection of my own, if I may say, loneliness. I don’t know. It could be the whole human condition.” - Edward Hopper
